The 'Research Contribution Claim Network' project

Welcome to the Research Contribution Claim Network. This is a demo-environment provided by SURF.

The Research Contribution Claim Network turns the public citation messages ("toots") that you send to our Claimbot Claimbot (@claimbot@mas.to) into structured, publicly published authorship claims that link a researcher to a scholarly work. Participation is on your own initiative: the service only processes your data after you have sent a toot to the bot.

Please take notice that our demo is intended for testing and understanding the concept, you use it as-is. Any data you enter is saved for 30 days and will be automatically deleted afterward.

You can review our full privacy statement here (Dutch and English).

How To Toot It To Claim It

Toot your research, education, impact or leadership (REIL) claims with URL proofs to Claimbot Claimbot @claimbot@mas.to

Example:

I was in the news today https://nos.nl/artikel/2620557-utrechts-waterschap-werkt-samen-met-boeren-aan-snelweg-voor-otters @claimbot@mas.to

Claimbot Claimbot will add the metadata and URL of this claim to your personal Claim Log (see next section).

InAcademia

Required configuration: Claimbot Claimbot will only listen to your toots when your Mastodon profile contains a verified InAcademia Verification Link.

Follow these 4 steps to set up verification on your Mastodon profile:

  1. Visit iam.inacademia.org.
  2. Paste your Mastodon profile URL and click Validate link.
  3. You will be asked to authenticate at your institution.
  4. Add the verification link to your Mastodon profile.

After these steps a green verified link appears on your profile, as in this example profile.

Required consent: As a final step, you need to consent. This can be done by sending a direct message to Claimbot Claimbot @claimbot@mas.to with the message I consent https://mycontributions.info.

After these verification and consent steps, you are ready to toot your research claims to Claimbot Claimbot!

Retract a Claim

To retract a claim, send a direct message (DM) to Claimbot Claimbot @claimbot@mas.to with the message Delete or Wissen in combination with the Source toot of your claim. You can only retract your own claims.

Example:

@claimbot@mas.to Delete https://mastodon.social/@patrickhochstenbach/116816130406018368

Claimbot Claimbot will flag the claims in the referenced toot as retracted. Retracted claims will not be displayed in your personal Claim Log. However, retracted claims are still available in the public record, albeit marked as retracted.
